Fine line between teaching and nagging

I'm wondering about these questions today:
  • Where is the line between teaching & coaching and nagging & bossing people around?
  • How do you reach people in a way that's instructive and helpful and not dominating and stifling?
  • When do you step over the line into obsessive compulsive behavior around keeping our information repositories organized?

Every day I'm sending out little instructive coaching notes to key users of our collaboration space. Are they helpful or simply annoying?

Some thoughts on some useful techniques to help with these questions:
  • Establish the "rules of engagement", and then refer to these, when giving feedback
  • Include a signature survey link, that will allow people to give feedback on the note
  • Establish clear 'domain' owners and spread the OCD behaviors !
Ok, so some new ideas for tomorrow !
